“Trust is the bridge from yesterday to tomorrow, built with planks of thanks. Remembering frames up gratitude. Gratitude lays out the planks of trust. I can walk the planks from known to unknown – and know: He holds." Ann Voskamp
Sometimes a thing so simple comes along and hits you square in the heart. You can hear it a million times, “count your blessings” but this has little meaning until you live it, until you need it.
We all suffer from turning our eyes to only the bad, the curse, the “thorns” stuck in our sides, the chips on our shoulders. Yes they are real. But no we don’thave to let them own us.
The answer is this. We don’t have to deny those things that burden us, but we do have to open our eyes to the things that set us free. And it’s not just a simple counting of blessings during Thanksgiving season, but it is something we must live every day, every hour, every minute. Building bridges over the next hurting moment with planks of thanks.
