Original: 16x20 Conte on Paper  2014 SOLD

Earthy, sweet, and a hint of smoke, the scent of his workshop leaves no question that skilled hands
have focused many hours here.
Layers of wooden silhouettes echo across the shelves, drying, waiting through the patient process for their purpose, to find fulfillment.

To be filled...and emptied...Shared with hungry communities searching for their own purpose.

Durland Vining finds a piece of his purpose in the making of each of these goblets, turing the single piece of butternut wood on his lathe. They make their way to Russia or Ukraine in the hands of missionaries who have a heart for building churches. The new churches stand by the purity of communion, sharing the wooden cup, filled with wine.

Then He took the cup,
and gave thanks,
and gave it to them, saying,
"Drink from it,
all of you.
Mathew 26:27
