Giclee: 16x20; 8x10 "Broken shells mean lots of tears...lots of pain...lots of struggle...but they are also valuable for teaching faith, courage, and strength. Broken shells inspire others and demonstrate the will to go on in a way that no perfect shell could ever do." ~ Carol Hamblet Adams from My Beautiful Broken Shell You will know Carol by the smile on her face. Always counting her graces and her blessings, outweighing the positives over the negatives. You would never know the war that was going on within her body. Carol found a painful lump in her chest in December, 2009 and knew it was her turn to have cancer. Not wanting to burden her family with her pains, she kept this to herself until her first appointment months later. From then on it was a whirlwind of appointments, treatments, bilateral mastectomy, chemo, shots, losing hair, growing weak, feeling sick, taking a plethora of pills, and not wanting to eat anything. Through all of this, Carol has nothing but Thanks. Thanks for the kind words, kind actions, kind doctors, prayers, phone calls, food, flowers, hats, hand holding, hugging, and her six-inch stack of cards “from all these sweet people.” Carol may be a broken shell, but in this she is an inspiration for strength and love. |
